Embodied Memories
Embodied Memories explores memories of sensory experiences. Starting with a tactile watercolour drawing, this is transformed into three-dimensional ceramics and layered with wax to create visual ambiguity, encouraging open interpretation. This work is also expanded into painting, which combines tactile and visual elements, and is ultimately installed in a dark room. Darkness acts as a device to expand sensory perception, encouraging the audience to rely on other senses besides touch, spatial perception, and sight. Through this work, I study how memory and sensation, through the experience of visual ambiguity and the intersection of touch and sight, are experienced and reconstructed through the body.
