Sensory Soil
Sensory Soil focuses on the sensory experience that soil evokes, exploring the tactile and emotional connections I have with it. The work begins by capturing the texture of the earth by drawing it in oil pastel. This drawing is then scanned and converted into a video using the Rorschach technique, which creates a dynamic flow of abstract forms that expand from the centre outwards, giving the impression of being in motion.
The video transforms the monochrome earth into a kaleidoscope of colours through tactile history and experienced emotions. The abstract video is also accompanied by ambiguous sounds, creating a meditative atmosphere. Through Sensory Soil, I want to provide a space for the audiences to think about the interaction between touch, memory, and imagination.
